JHS Weekly Update
Good afternoon Comet families! A quick update on where we are at. Internet is up and running at the schools. JHS/JMS are both good to go. WES is having issues with the heat. We have people working on it but that's as much as I know right now. I want to thank Tom, Vern, Lucy, and others who helped keep the power going and moving food around so it wasn't spoiled. There were quite a few people who have been working to try to get our kids back in school. We are lucky to have them! I will give you another update when I know something more definitive. I hope you are all well!

Good evening Comet families! I hope this message finds you safe and well, though I know we are in different states of “well”. In looking at the outage map for Consumers, it does not look like we are going to be ready to go by tomorrow so we will not be in session tomorrow Friday, February 24th. I know this time has not been easy for you all and I hope it gets better soon. We will see our Comets on Monday, February 27th. Stay safe and stay warm

The Hillsdale County YOUTH Advisory Council partnered with Domestic Harmony for one of this year's awareness projects. February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM) and the YOUTH worked with Domestic Harmony to raise awareness of violence and abuse in relationships as well as to promote qualities in healthy relationships that protect against power and control: safety, fairness, and equality. Jonesville’s YOUTH board members are: Maria Mandrelle, Hallie James, Abigail Nevins, Emily Toner, and Damion Scharer.

After the facility assessment and survey were completed, the board deliberated on our next steps for our facilities. As you know, many of our facilities are very old and the resources we have available to address all of the needs don't come close to what we need. Because of this, the board made a decision to begin work on developing a bond proposal. I am looking for parents and community members who reside in the Jonesville School district to be a part of a committee to look at where we are at and where we would like to be. If you are interested in this project, please contact me at eweatherwax@jonesvilleschools.org or call me at 517-826-7001.

JCS would like to thank Jonesville Lumber for their incredible support of our Industrial Arts program. This year, we added classes for each grade level in the middle school in addition to the two hours of classes at the high school. This meant we were in dire need of supplies and JL stepped in and delivered, literally. It started in September with shipments of 1x4 and 1x6 lumber for birdhouse projects in the middle school and various types of lumber for the high school. We then decided to try something different during the 2nd trimester at the middle school by adding lessons on the electrical trade. JL came through again with lumber and electrical supplies. The pics are the culmination of carpentry and electrical projects our students have done as a result of JL’s generosity. Thank you!!! These mini-walls are currently being combined into small garden sheds. More information and pics of those coming soon! -Mr. Dice
