Bond FAQ
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Spanish 3 and 4 classes decorated the hallway outside the cafeteria with a papel picado banner. They also created a display of some famous Hispanic people, complete with a replica of the singer, Selena. The students have labeled various things around the building in Spanish, and are including Spanish words and facts about Hispanic countries in the morning announcements.

The question is often asked, "But what are you doing to maintain our facilities?". Here is a list of SOME of the work that has been done. It does not include yearly maintenance or tickets staff members put in, or even all the work that has been done. The bond is focused on items that are at end of life and beyond our capability to replace or renovate. The boilers at JMS and the chiller at JHS are over 20 years old. The roof at WES has never been replaced. The football field is well over 70 years old!

Weekly Update
The ballot language for the November 7th bond will be out soon. Here is a breakdown of the ballot language so it's easier to understand. The first sheet explains that it's a 0 mill increase and what projects the money is intended for. This will not result in a tax increase. The second sheet shows what happens to the bond over the course of the extension. It begins to go down in 2034 and drops significantly in 2035. The third sheet shows where the money is going towards. The orange bars represent the old debt being paid off. Our mills will remain at 8.3 until 2030 (slight drop) whether the bond passes or not. If the bond passes, the 8.3 continues for three more years to 2033 before it begins to drop. In 2035, it drops significantly to 2.45. Visit jonesvilleschools.org for more information! Go Comets!!!
