Please bring help to carry out if needed. Any child under the age of 18 is eligible for meals, they do not have to be a student of Jonesville Community Schools to participate. Congratulations to all of our Comet Cruisers runners. We had 65 student runners complete the 5K course today. Thank you to all our coaches, student coaches and sponsors. Without you, this great experience couldn't have happened! Special congratulations to our top finisher overall: Isabel McNair with a time of 21:42. Our top elementary boy finisher was Connor Wickham with a time of 23:11. Thank you as well to our student coaches who helped train all season and ran today! Top boy and girl finishers for them: Everett DeGuise with a time of 22:17 and Adelyn Hamilton with a time of 23:20! Thank you to all the adult coaches who helped organize, run practices, and make all this possible. Thank you as well to the race officials, race timer, and all the middle and high school course monitors who made the race special for the kids!

Comet Cruisers 2025
Good evening Comet families! I’m reaching out to you tonight to give you a quick update on a couple of things. We received one bid for the FFA barn but it was beyond our budget so we are working on soliciting more bids. My hope is that we will be able to get a couple more bids and vote on the construction piece at the board meeting on the 27th. We have already purchased the materials so it will be ready to go. Between the groundwork, surveys, architects, and materials we have spent over 80% of the grant money for the project so we are in good shape. I do apologize for it taking so long. The second item to update you on is what to do with the old track. The board discussed this at our study session this week and they decided to just wait a while before making a decision. We know the community enjoys using the track. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Go Comets!

Where Fun Meets Learning! On Wednesday, the fifth grade students from Williams Elementary STEM class enjoyed gathering at the banks of the St. Joseph River to race their small, handcrafted boats. In collaborative groups of three, students designed and created either a paddle boat or sailboat using a “hands-on” approach of the Engineering Design Process. After each class raced in separate heats, finalists were announced and will race again during Riverfest this coming Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. Don’t miss the action and join us!

Congratulations to Mrs. Bolz-Sweebe's 4th grade class for winning the reading contest! Dear Reading Contest Participants, Thank you again to every class that participated in our district wide reading contest. I was impressed by the effort each school and student put into the competition! I am excited to announce the top three classrooms reading greatest number of pages during the month of March. Please join me in congratulating the following classrooms: 1st Place Kimberly Bolz-Sweebe’s class from Williams Elementary in Jonesville read 66,232 2nd Place Christy Knapp’s class from Monroe Catholic Elementary Schools-St. Mary Campus read 56,711 pages. 3rd Place Alyssa Gonzalez’s class from Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Academy in Newport read 44,304 pages. This year over 340 students from 17 classrooms participated in the contest, reading over 350,000 pages! My hope from this reading contest was to create a program that promoted reading in and outside of the classroom. Looking at the number of pages read by each classroom during the month of March shows we were successful in our effort. Thanks again for your participation. I look forward to continuing our work together to promote reading in our community. Winners please keep a lookout for an email from my office for your pizza party. Sincerely, Senator Joe Bellino The 16th District
